Healthfirst Training Australia ™(HFTA) a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is a business unit of the Healthfirst Network and is a provider of Nationally Accredited Qualifications and units from the Health, Community Services and Business Services Training Packages.
As an Industry Based RTO our core business is to provide nationally accredited quality training to ensure a skilled workforce in:
- General Practice
- Allied Health
- Aged Care and the Primary Health Care Sector

Healthfirst Training Australia™ delivers training of the highest calibre. Our trainers are practitioners in both the Clinical and Business Sectors with vast and current experience within the Health Industry. Healthfirst Training Australia™ believes in the delivery of quality training which has been selected by the industry to meet their needs and address current skill shortages.
We focus on practical components of study as well as the academic learning, with learners given the opportunity to participate in real work situations.
HFTA is registered to offer a wide variety of nationally recognised qualifications from the Health, Community Services and Business Services Training Packages. In particular we are able to provide tailored training to suit Enterprise or Industry skill sets including whole qualifications or specific units to fit your organisation's individual needs.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of skills and knowledge obtained through formal training, work experience and life experiences. HFTA has a simple process for acknowledging RPL that will potentially reduce the lenght of a course.
Qualifications and / or units from the Public Health, General Business Operations and Allied Health areas may well be of particular value within your General Practice, Medicare Local, Aged Care or Allied Health. Your organisation may also be entitled to access Government Incentives to use to train your current employees!
Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting
This qualification provides knowledge and skills needed to assist in a medical practice under supervision by and in the context of a consultation being conducted by a medical practitioner. The medical assisting work role includes a broad range of administrative functions, identified tasks of a clinical assisting nature and, where appropriate, provision of client support and guidance in relation to identified treatment issues as per instruction from the health care practitioner.
Certificate IV in Health Administration
This qualification covers workers who complete a wide range of administrative tasks, under direct or indirect supervision. These functions can be carried out in a range of settings, including General Practice, Community Health Centres, Hospitals, Aged Care Facilities.
Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
This qualification covers workers who provide assistance to allied health professionals. Workers at this level operate under direct supervision and do not conduct programs or therapeutic interventions. Core units also cover general administration which transfers across into the General Practice, Aged Care and Community Care environment.
Diploma in Population Health
This qualification offers high level training in population helath which assesses health status and health inequities of the population characterised by geography, age, gender, culture or other defining features over the life span. Prevention of chronic disease is a key focus with emphasis on building the individual's and community's capacity to control health determinants for a better quality of life and a sensitivity to cultural differences. This role would be relvant to those wanting to or currently working in General Practice, Medicare Local, Local or State Government.
Diploma of Practice Management
This qualification covers workers who manage the operations and promotion of professional practices in the health sector. Functions include providing leadership, managing WHS, people and workplace relationships, billing anbd accounting systems, risk, customer service, workplace information systems;ensuring compliance with legal, ehtical and statutory requirements; monitoring infection control as well as managing the Human Resource function - rosters, recruitment, retention, induction.
